Objective:  Experience the joy of the Lord which comes from spending time in His presence.

Math:
Continue doing a 5 min warm-up with the assigned Math fact sheet.  If your child has mastered the current fact sheet, move on the next one.  Do 5 min of Mental Math daily.
Objectives:
1. Write mixed numbers
2. Add & subtract fractions from a whole number.
3. Determine the scale of a number line between two whole numbers and be able to locate mixed numbers.
4. Define improper fractions
5. Convert an improper fraction to a mixed number.
6. Convert an mixed number to an improper fraction.
Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.
Composition:
Objectives:
1. Present your written composition to an audience.
2. To tell the difference between a key word outline and a story sequence outline.
3. To retell a myth using the story sequence outline.
Reading:
We begin continue reading The Wright Brothers this week.  Please bring your book to class both days.
Grammar
Objectives:
1. Identify object pronouns.
2. Correctly use subject pronouns, object pronouns, and possessive pronouns in sentences.
3. Review previously learned information and skills.
Spelling
Objective: Correctly spell words containing /eks/ and /egz/ spelled ex.
Step 6 Spelling Test was returned on Monday.  Please have your student correctly rewrite any misspelled words five times and return it to school on Wed.  Continue to review phonogram cards.
Latin
Objectives:
1. Memorize the vocabulary words and the maxim for Ch8. 
2. Know what "neuter" nouns are, and understand that the nominative and accusative cases are the same, with no exceptions. 
3. Know how to translate basic sentences.
Listen to Latin chants daily to aid in memorization.

Objectives:
1. Identify factors which led to WW I.
2. Know that WW I  started in 1914 after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.
3. Know that WW I ended in 1919 with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.
Science
Objectives:  
1. Assess memorization of Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion
2. Build a simple machine
3. Complete a rough draft biography of the scientist you have been researching.
4. Name and describe five simple machines: Levers, Wheels, Pulleys, Screws, and Gears

Week of 9/25 – 9/29
This week your student will begin writing their rough draft from the questions that they answered over the last two weeks.  It should include an introductory paragraph, a paragraph on their scientific contributions, a paragraph on other interesting events in the scientist’s life and a conclusion that includes why your student feels it is important to study the particular scientist.  They will have additional time to work on their rough draft next week.
Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
