History

Objectives:
1. Know that after WW II Vietnam was split into communist North Vietnam and democratic South Vietnam.
2. When war broke out between the two countries, the US sent soldiers to fight in Vietnam.
3. Interview someone who recalls the Vietnam War and share some of their memories with classmates.

This week we'll be learning about the Vietnam war, and reading about the conflicts both in Vietnam and at home in the US.  
Students will identify and interview someone who was alive during this time period. It may be a relative, friend, neighbor, teacher, etc.
and may be done in person or by phone.  Students will share their findings with classmates on Wed 2/27.

Science

Objectives:

1. Identify substances attracted to magnets.
2. Know that magnets have a north and south pole which are attracted to one another.
3. Experiment with magnets.

Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Parents, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the

AAS app.  Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.

Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all

the sounds associated with that card.

Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.

History

Objective: Assess mastery of US Presidents

For Wednesday’s assessment, students may either write, say, or sing all of the US President’s first and last names in order.  There will be a word

bank for the written assessment.

Next week we'll be learning about the Vietnam war, and reading about the conflicts both in Vietnam and at home in the US.  Students will have

an assignment to find someone who was alive during this time period and interview them. This may be a relative, friend, neighbor, teacher, etc.

and may be done in person or by phone.  A list of possible questions will be sent home on Monday and they’ll share their findings on Wed 2/27.

1. Know that the balancing point of a disk is at its center.

2. Know that objects always come to rest at their balancing points.

3. Know that the center of gravity for an object is the point at which all of an object’s weight is concentrated.

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents.   There are several YouTube video songs.
