Please continue to complete two Math Fact worksheets per week. Set the timer for 5 min and circle the last problem your child completes. Then complete the page, correct, and return to school for recording.


Objectives:

1. Divide a one-place decimal by a one-digit whole number.

2. Divide a two-place decimal by a one-digit whole number.

3. Divide decimals to hundredths in cases where the quotient has a different number of decimal places than the dividend.

4. Practice division with decimals.


Spelling

Objectives:

1. Spell words containing the sound of /u/ spelled ou.

Please bring your book to class each day.

Writing

Objectives:

1. Write a 2-paragraph composition from a writing prompt.
2. Correctly incorporate dress-ups and sentence openers.


Grammar

Objectives:

1. Know the five parts of a friendly letter: Heading, Greeting, Body, Closing, Signature

2. Write a friendly letter to a relative or friend using the correct format

3. Address an envelope

4. Know common reasons to write a business letter.
5. Write a properly formatted business letter.

Note: Students will learn four types of business letters and write to a company of their choice.  They will often receive back a reply, which can be exciting. Bring the properly formatted letter, along with an addressed envelope to school on Tuesday. After they are checked, we will mail them.


History 

Objectives:

1. Know that Martin Luther King Jr. was a national leader of the Civil Rights Movement of 1950-1968

2. Become familiar with MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech

2. Write a personal "Dream" speech

3. Know that American soldiers fought against communist North Vietnam for 8 years in a controversial war.


Science
Objectives:
1. Experiment with egg shell strength
2. Observe a growing chick embryo through candling
3. Identify precocial birds

Students will be making a field guide of Texas birds using pictures from the Texas Parks & Wildlife publication.  For coloring accuracy, search birds here:  https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "The Dentist and the Crocodile".  Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are finishing our study of Scandinavia this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

History: Continue your memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help
