Please administer the Classical Phonics Assessment (in binder) this week and return to school Monday.  
You only need to do Assessment 2.  Here are instructions for administering the assessment.
Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Parents, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app.  Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.
Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.

Reading  

1. Identify goodness, truth, and beauty in biographical literature.

Objective:

Objectives: 

1. Know that Russia's economic collapse led to the Bolshevik Revolution, which forced the Czar out of power.
2. Know that the Bolshevik leader, Vladimir Lenin, became a brutal dictator.
3. Lenin established the USSR and ruled over it until his death in 1924.
4. Know that WW I  started in 1914 after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.
5. Know that WW I ended in 1919 with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

Questions:
Answer the following questions in your journal using complete sentences with proper capitalization and punctuation.
1. List two reasons why Russian peasants had a difficult life 
2. What were the two reasons why so many Russians were angry with the Romanovs?
3. What group seized control of the government? Who was their leader?
4. Why was the Bolshevik party renamed the "Communist Party"?


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our second quarter poem is "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening".  Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are assessing Western Europe this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents to "America" and US PresidentsFor assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/5/21
