Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading.  Our Character Virtue of the month is Attentiveness. 
Kids of Integrity has wonderful resources to aid you in developing this virtue in your child.

Math:
Continue doing a 5 min warm-up with the assigned Math fact sheet.  
Work through Mental Math 13 this week.
Objectives:
1.  Solve word problems with fractions.
2.  Practice adding and subtracting fractions.
3.  Write mixed numbers.
4.  Add fractions to, and subtract fractions from, a whole number.
5.  Locate mixed numbers on a number line.
6.  Understand the relationship between improper fractions and mixed numbers.

Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.

Spelling
Objective: Spell words containing /eks/ and /egz/ spelled ex

Step 6 Spelling Test was returned on Monday.  Please have your student correctly rewrite any misspelled words five times and return it to school on Wed.  Continue reviewing phonogram cards.

Composition
Objectives:
1. Ask story sequence questions and discuss answers.
2. Create a story sequence outline and retell myth using the outline.
3. Brainstorm synonyms and dress-ups for story
4. Write a rough draft of the first two paragraphs using SSO.
5. Assess vocabulary words.

Reading  
Objectives:
1. Spend 30-45 min of independent reading per day
2. Engage in meaningful discussion over assigned text

Grammar
Objectives:
1. Demonstrate subject/verb agreement
2. Identify subject and possessive pronouns
3. Know that a possessive noun (PNA) shows ownership and modifies like an adjective
4. Write an original sentence containing a possessive noun (PNA) and possessive pronoun (PPA)

Latin: 
Objectives:
1. Review previously learned Latin vocabulary and grammar
2. Learn new English vocabulary from Latin derivatives.

History
Objectives:
1. Identify factors which led to WW I.
2. Know that WW I  started in 1914 after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.
3. Know that WW I ended in 1919 with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

Science

4. Practice fraction skills

Bar Modeling: Bar modeling is a key component of problem solving. We will now do a practice "Bar Model of the Day" each day at school along with our normal math facts and mental math warm-ups.  If you have not watched the bar model training videos on the blog under resources, they will be beneficial in assisting your student.

Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.

Spelling
Objective: Analyze two ways to spell the sound of /shun/.

Step 5 Spelling Test was returned on Monday.  Please have your student correctly rewrite any misspelled words five times and return it to school on Wed.  Continue to review phonogram cards.
