Discipleship: 
Objective:  Experience the joy of the Lord which comes from spending time in His presence.
Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading. 
Note: Parents may want to preview Thurs. Bible reading before assigning to your student.

Math
Objectives:
1. Solve word problems of up to 3 steps.
2. Practice bar modeling skills for solving word problems.
3. Practice multiplication and long division skills

Start with 5 min of addition practice using Facts Practice A.  When your child can complete FP-A correctly in 5 min, move on to FP-B (subtraction) or FP-G (multiplication).

Do 5 min of Mental Math using MM 5 & 6 in the HIG appendix.  Don't strive to finish all problems in this time.    The goal is to be able to calculate answers mentally. 

 *NOTE: Parents, if you haven't already, please watch these videos to aid you in teaching Singapore Math.  The first one is especially good at demonstrating using base-10 blocks (or a white board) to model long division.

Reading  
Objectives:
1. Learn about the life a soldier during the Civil War.
2. Engage in discussion, sharing ideas, meaning, & information from the reading.

Spelling

Objective: Learn more words ending in tion

Please administer the Classical Phonics Assessment (in binder) this week and return to school the following Monday.  You only need to do Assessment 1 (Single Letter Phonograms) at this point. Here are instructions for administering the assessment.
Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Parents, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app.  Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.
Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.

Writing
Objectives:
1. Create a KWO from a source text.
2. Write a rough draft of fable using KWO and composition checklist.
3. Incorporate new vocabulary
4 .Correctly incorporate “ly” words into composition.

Grammar

Objectives: 
1.  Identify nouns as "common" or proper" and "singular" or "plural."
2.  Identify the simple subject and simple predicate of a sentence.

History
Objectives:  
1. Identify factors that led to the War Between the States.
2. Identify key figures of the war.
3. Research a war hero.

Science

Objectives:
1. Review and be able to describe insect parts and functions.
2. Know how to identify and label insects.
3. Begin study of insect life cycles.
