Discipleship:
Objective:  Experience the joy of the Lord which comes from spending time in His presence.  
Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading.  Our Character Virtue of the month is Faith. Where does faith come from?  Read Romans 10:8-17.

Math:
Continue doing a 5 min warm-up with the assigned Math fact sheet.  If your child has mastered the current fact sheet, move on the next one.

Objectives:
1. Identify equivalent fractions, know how to compare fractions, and put fractions in simplest form.
2. Add like fractions.
3. Add related fractions.
4. Subtract related fractions.

Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.

Composition
Objectives:
1. Create a KWO from a source text.
2. Write a rough draft of The Milkmaid and Her Pail incorporating an -ly word and who/which clause.
3. Learn and incorporate new vocabulary words into writing.

Reading:
Complete your book of choice this week. Co-teachers, please have your child orally narrate to you what they have read and spend time discussing the book.
Next week we will begin The Wright Brothers, so make sure you have it on hand. 

Grammar
Objectives:
1. Know that a subject pronoun takes the place of a noun that is the subject of a sentence.
2. Know that a possessive pronoun takes the place of a possessive noun.
3. Write an original sentence using pronouns correctly.
4. Identify six parts of speech studied so far and give examples of each.

Spelling
Objective: Analyze two ways to spell the sound of /shun/.

Continue to review phonogram cards.

Latin
Objectives:
1. Memorize 2nd Declension noun endings
2. Learn new Latin vocabulary
Listen to Latin chants daily to aid in memorization.
Chapter 7 

History
Objectives:
  1. Know that Australia was explored by Captain Cook and colonized by the British.
  2. Know that Australia was used as a penal colony for convicts resulting in social problems.
  3. Identify factors that led to social improvements in the Australian colony.
  4. Know that Australia became the independent Commonwealth of Australia in 1901.

Science
Objectives:  
1. Understand Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion
2. Know that a force is any push or pull on an object.
3. Identify important scientific contributions of the scientist you have been researching.

Definitions: Force--a push or pull on an object

Week of 9/18 – 9/22: Students should have completed reading about their scientist and continue taking notes and answering questions.  Next week, we will write a rough draft based on your research.  
·         Who was the scientist you read about?
·         When and where were they born?
·         What was their major scientific contribution?
·         List the events that surrounded their discovery
·         List some other interesting events in the scientist’s life.
·         Why do you think it is important to learn about this scientist?


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
