*Please note: Because these are such extraordinary times, and we want to reduce any stress you may be feeling in regards to this online model, we are easing up on required assignments. We will now have color-coded assignments, focusing primarily on math, reading and writing. Everything in blue on the blog is now optional, and will not be assessed . Many of these assignments your student can do independently, so they are still recommended, but not required.

For Tuesday's math, please print the practice sheet, complete, check and make corrections. I will email co-teachers the answer page. If you have questions, I'll answer them during the Wed. morning session.

For Wednesday, please print the worksheet and complete after the morning session.

Objectives:
1. Review conversion of measurements
2. Review expressing measurements in compound units.

Spelling
All spelling will be done at home while we are doing online schooling. Please print and record your child's weekly spelling test scores here.
Objective: Spell words with the word ending /awt/ spelled ought and words with a followed by l.

Writing
Objectives:
1. Write a KWO from two source texts
2. Write a fused outline from the two KWO's
3. Write a RD paragraph from fused outline which includes dress-ups: -ly, who/which clause, www.asia, because clause, strong verb, quality adjective, prepositional opener, adverb opener

Grammar
Co-teachers, please check that your student can write their full address correctly without assistance. Also,help locate the needed address to mail the letter on Thurs.
Objectives:
1. Know the five parts of a friendly letter: Heading, Greeting, Body, Closing, Signature
2. Write a friendly letter to a relative or friend using the correct format
3. Address an envelope

Reading
Objectives:
1. Learn about life in South Africa in the mid twentieth century.
2. Discuss social issues facing the black community living in South Africa during Apartheid

History
Objectives:
1. Identify problems associated with Communism in the Soviet Union.
2. Identify why it was easy for the Soviet Union to invade Czechoslovakia.
3. Identify why it was difficult for the Soviet Union to invade Afganistan.
4. Learn about the life and ministry of Billy Graham

Science
Objectives:
1. Practice bird identification through field marks and songs
2. Study the migration habits of various birds

Birds will be active and looking to nest over the nest few weeks. Here is a wonderful publication from Texas Parks & Wildlife which gives a lot of information about Texas birds and how to identify them. There's also coloring pages, facts, and fun activities which will aid in your bird study.
