Objectives:

Spelling
Objective:
1. Spell more words with the sound of /z/ spelled s.
2. Review and assess phonograms

Please administer the Classical Phonics Assessment (in binder) this week and return to school the following Monday.  You only need to do Assessment 2.  Here are instructions for administering the assessment.
Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Parents, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app.  Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.
Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.


Writing
Objectives:
1. Create a KWO using the "Summarizing a Reference" structural model
2. Correctly use the topic/clincher rule
3. Write a 1-paragraph report about Aesop
4. Correctly use new vocabulary words: author, fable
5. Incorporate a quality adjective to replace banned words: good/bad

Grammar
Objectives:
1. Correctly capitalize and punctuate a friendly letter
2. Identify direct objects in sentences.

Please join us for our monthly "Co-Teacher" (aka: Parents) Training session THIS Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 9-10am in the sanctuary. The session will be presented by Carol Brazill (Professional Development Coordinator) and Kristi Martin (Team Coordinator/Academic Support Coordinator). We will be discussing the importance of summarizing and how to use this skill across different subjects. Summarizing can be used as early as Preschool and can help students of all ages.
