Discipleship:
Our Character Virtue of the month is Fear of the Lord. Fear
of the Lord is knowing and understanding the glory and majesty of God. Fruit of
the Spirit: Faithfulness.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bible Note: Parents
may want to preview Wednesday’s Bible reading before assigning to your student.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Math: Begin math with a 5-minute warm-up of
subtraction practice using Facts Practice B. When your child can complete
FP-B correctly in 5 min, move on to the multiplication facts practice.
Objectives:
1. Find multiples of a one-digit number.
2. Find common multiples.
3. Find factors of whole numbers up to 100.
4. Identify prime and composite numbers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spelling:
Objective: Review and assess single letter phonograms.
Note: Please administer the Classical Phonics
Assessment (in binder) this week and return to school the following Tuesday.
You only need to do Assessment 1 (Single Letter Phonograms) at this point. Co-teachers,
for the written portion, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you
prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app. Your student should then write
the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.
For the oral portion, show the card to the student. He or she should be able to
correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any
phonograms your child missed on the form.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Objectives:
1. Create a KWO from a source text.
2. Write a rough draft of a fable using KWO and composition
checklist.
3. Incorporate a who/which clause into composition.
4. Create a title that repeats or reflects key words from
the final sentence.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grammar
Objectives:
1. Identify parts of speech and use them correctly.
2. Identify predicate words located in the complete subject.
3. Find synonyms and antonyms for a word.
4. Write a practice sentence.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
History
Objectives:
1. Identify factors that led to the War Between the States.
2. Identify key figures of the war.
3. Research a war hero.
Note: Choose a person from
the Civil War that you would like to learn more about. Read
about their life and write a paragraph describing what that individual did
during the Civil War that was notable or commendable. Some
possible ideas include various political figures, generals, spies,
abolitionists, etc. There are many more! Students will be
sharing this information with classmates on Tuesday of next week.
History:
American Civil War for Kids (ducksters.com) has biographies of many people,
including the following. Be sure to write your paragraph using your
own words.
President Abraham Lincoln
Robert E Lee
Ulysses S Grant
Harriet Beecher Stowe
Harriet Tubman
John Brown
Sojourner Truth
Frederick Douglass
Mary Walker
Dorothea Dix
Louisa May Alcott
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Science
Objectives:
1. Identify characteristics of Order Lepidoptera.
2. Know the four stages of complete metamorphosis.
Note: Your student
should start pinning their insects sooner rather than later, so that the insect
can “set its shape.” (Some of your specimens will need lots of pins to arrange
their legs and body just right. After a few days to a week, most of the pins
can be removed and the insect’s shape will be “set.”)
If your student would like more information on pinning and
labeling insects, here are a couple of YouTube videos:

Here is a comprehensive booklet about Texas insects that you
can print or use for reference and insect identification:

working on the following memory work.
