Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading. Our virtue this month is Orderliness

Math

Objectives:
1. Add related fractions.
2. Subtract like fractions.
3. Change related fractions in order to subtract.
4. Practice fraction skills.

Start with 5 min of addition practice using Facts Practice-G or H (multiplication).

Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.

Reading  
Objectives:
1. Learn about the development of the Ferris Wheel displayed at the Chicago World's Fair.
2. Engage in discussion, sharing ideas, meaning, & information from the reading.

Spelling
Objective: Spell words ending in sion, words containing the sound of th, and how to add two suffixes to a word


Writing
Objectives:
1. Write a paragraph introducing the characters and setting of a myth
2. Write the 2nd paragraph containing the problem/conflict of the story
3. Incorporate strong verbs, -ly and who/which clause dress-ups into each paragraph.


Grammar
Objectives:
1. Identify subject pronouns in sentences
2. Correctly use subject pronouns in an original sentence.
3. Identify possessive noun pronouns in sentences
4. Correctly use possessive noun pronouns in an original sentence.

Latin
1. Practice with Latin vocabulary words.
2. Review the First-Declension Noun "Mensa" chart.
3. Know that Latin nouns contain Number, Gender and Case.
History
Objectives: 
1. Know that Otto von Bismarck Unified the Second Reich in Germany in 1871
2. Know that railroads sped travel, took people to new cities, and took grain and other goods to far away places.
3. Know that time zones divided the earth into twenty-four zones, making it the same time inside each zone.
4. Know that electricity made it possible for men to work after dark.
5. Know that Japan became more modern during the Meiji Restoration.

Science
Objectives:
1. Know the stages of Lepidoptera metamorphosis
2. Compare and contrast butterflies and moths
3. Continue to collect, study, and identify Texas insects.

Continue to add to your insect collection. You will need to have 10 different insects, all labeled with the Order,
name of insect, date, and location.

Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
Poetry:  Our first quarter poem is "The Father's Vineyard".  Additional copies here.
Geography:  Continue memorizing the countries of Southern Europe.
