We are starting The Wright Brothers this week. Please bring your book to class each day.

1. Increase reading comprehension and fluency.

2. Learn about the Wright Brothers and the invention of the airplane

3. Engage in meaningful discussion.

4. Summarize a passage through oral narration.


Writing 

Objectives:

1. Create a KWO using the "Summarizing a Reference" structural model 2. Correctly use the topic/clincher rule 3. Write a 1-paragraph report about Aesop 4. Correctly use new vocabulary words: author, fable 5. Incorporate a quality adjective to replace banned words: big/small, good/bad


Grammar

Objectives: Review and practice capitalization and punctuation rules.


History 

Objectives: 

1. Know that the American West was changed as settlers moved west, railroads were built, Native Americans were pushed off their land, and territories became states. 

2. Know that factories produced goods faster and cheaper as factory owners borrowed money from investors. 

3. Identify ways the Boxer Rebellion impacted China


Science

1. Identify the jobs of bees and learn ways they communicate with each other

2. Complete insect collection and present to classmates

3. Identify similarities and differences between bees and wasps

4. Identify characteristics of termites

Geography:  We are studying Western Europe this week. The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.
