Discipleship:
Objective: Experience the joy of the Lord which comes from spending time in His presence.
Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading. Our Character Virtue of the month is Love, this week focusing on Compassion. What is compassion? Did Jesus have it? Does He ask His people to have it? Try a quick word search of "compassion" on a Bible website and see how many times it appears in Scripture.
Math:
A packet of math fact practice sheets was sent home in your child's binder on Monday.
Please make copies and start each day doing a 5 min warm-up with the assigned sheet. If your child has mastered the current fact sheet, move on the next one.
Objectives:
1. Estimate the answers in addition and subtraction of large numbers.
2. Practice concepts involving place value and rounding.
3. Understand factors
4. Determine if a 1-digit number is a factor of a given whole number
Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.

Directions for Tuesday: Some surprises about Air Pressure
1. Place two books 4 or 5 inches apart, and lay a sheet of paper over the books to cover the space between them. Blow through the space under the paper.
You will see that: the paper sinks between the books.
2. Hang two balloons (if you have them) a few inches apart and blow between them.
You will see that: The balloons move together.
Explanation: By causing air to move, you lessen the air pressure. The faster air moves, the less pressure it has. Airplanes can rise from the ground because of this.
Your student will be making their own dictionary of terms through the course of this study. Most definitions can be found in the Usborne Science Encylopedia's glossary, all are in the readings. It's up to you how you want your student to obtain the definition: you can choose to dictate the definition or you can have them look up the terms in a dictionary. They are to write out each definition on the vocabulary page of their science journal.
Here are this week's terms. These are a guide. Your student's definitions don't need to be word for word.
Air Pressure: the pressure exerted by the atmosphere
Memory Work: Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
Poetry: Our first quarter poem is "The Father's Vineyard". A copy was placed in your student's binder. Additional copies here.
