Note: Start each day with a facts practice warm-up sheet. Do whichever page your child is currently working on. Set the timer for 5 minutes, circle the last problem completed, then complete the rest of the page. Correct and return to school for an Optional completion grade. (Two sheets due per week.)  

Objectives:

1. Express fractions & mixed numbers with a denominator that is a factor of 10 or 100 as a decimal.

2. Compare and order decimals to hundredths.

3. Round decimals given in tenths to the nearest whole number.

4. Practice concepts from Ch. 12.

Writing 

Objectives:

1. Use notes from historical research to create a KWO and rough draft.
2. Write the third paragraph on your WW II topic(s) of choice.
3. Write an Introduction paragraph.
4. Write a Conclusion paragraph.

WEDNESDAY HOMESCHOOL NOTE: You need to have facts from at least three sources (one of the three must be from an actual book): books, encyclopedia articles, and/or websites.
  • Write down the title of the book, the author, name of publisher, and the date of publication.
  • Write down the name of the websites, the title of the article, the author, and date you accessed the websites you use.
  • Bring all information about your sources to class on Thursday in order to make your Bibliography.
This week you will use the notes and information you've gathered from your research to write the third paragraph of your
chosen WW II topic(s). All three body paragraphs rough drafts are due next Tuesday. We will write the Introduction in class on Tuesday.
Your final draft is due Thursday, Feb. 27, and may be either handwritten or typed.

History 

Objectives:

1. Identify battles in the Pacific front of WW II.

2. Identify the Marine Memorial as a tribute to the armed forces fighting in the Pacific.

3. Identify ways WW II impacted Americans' daily lives.

4. Complete research and report writing.


NOTE: Share what you're learning with your family as you research your topic. Practice presenting the information so you are prepared
to teach your classmates what you have learned.
Your written report, (including bibliography), visual aids, and presentation are due Thursday, Feb. 27.

Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone." These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here is one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are continuing our study of Eastern Europe this week. The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

Sheppard's software practice game: Eastern Europe

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents: Washington to Trump and an older version, US Presidents to "America" For assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/12
