Math
Please continue to complete two Math Fact worksheets per week. Set the timer for 5 min and circle the last problem your child completes. Then complete the page, correct, and return to school for recording.

Objectives:

1. Add hundredths.

3. Subtract from 1 and 0.1

4. Subtract Hundredths

5. Relate money to decimals.

6. Practice adding and subtracting decimals.

*Note: These two practice lessons provide additional practice and review of Ch 13. Your student may not need to complete all of the problems in the lesson if you see that the concept has been mastered. However, most students will benefit from doing the word problems in order to practice bar modeling skills.


Spelling

Please administer the Classical Phonics Assessment 3 (in binder or on link above) this week and return to school Tuesday. 

You only need to do Assessment 3 at this time.

Here are instructions for administering the assessment.

Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Parents, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app.  Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.

Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.


Objectives:

Reading  

Please bring your book to class each day.

Objectives: 

1. Increase reading comprehension and fluency.

1. Write a story consisting of 3 paragraphs that describe what is happening in a series of pictures.
2. Practice the Writing from Pictures structure: Central Fact, Details, and Clincher for each paragraph.
3. Use stylistic techniques of incorporating 6 dress-ups into each paragraph.
4. Recite Poem 3

History 

Objectives:

1. Know that under the Marshall Plan, the Allies gave money to rebuild Europe after WWII, and Germany was split in two.
2. Know that Israel was proclaimed a state in 1948.
3. Know that the Cold War was a conflict between the US and the Soviet Union and fought without weapons.
4. Know that Chairman Mao brought Communism to China in 1949

Science
Objectives:
1. Identify Texas birds
2. Identify types of bird nests 
3. Match bird species with nest type

Students will be making a field guide of Texas birds using pictures from the Texas Parks & Wildlife publication.  For coloring accuracy, search birds here:  https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone".  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here is one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are beginning our study of Scandinavia this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

History: Continue your memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents to "America" and US PresidentsFor assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names.
