Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading. Our virtue this month is Compassion. Kids of Integrity has some great resources to help develop this virtue in your child.

Math

Objectives:

1. Subtract decimal numbers from 1 and 0.1.

2. Subtract decimals to hundredths

3. Relate money notation to decimals.

4. Estimate, add and subtract money amounts.

5. Practice and subtracting decimals.

*Note: These two practice lessons (Practice B on Monday) provide additional practice and review of Ch 13. Your student may not need to complete all of the problems in the lesson if you see that the concept has been mastered. However, most students will benefit from doing all the word problems in order to practice bar modeling skills.


Spelling

Objectives:

1. Learn to spell words containing the sound of /n/ spelled gn


Reading

Objectives:

1. Know that under the Marshall Plan, the Allies gave money to rebuild Europe after WWII, and Germany was split in two.
2. Know that Israel was proclaimed a state in 1948.
3. Know that Chairman Mao brought Communism to China in 1949
4. Know that communist North Korean soldiers marched into democratic South Korea in 1950 starting the Korean War.


Science
Objectives:
1. Identify Texas birds
2. Identify types of bird nests 
3. Match bird species with nest type

Students will be making a field guide of Texas birds using pictures from the Texas Parks & Wildlife publication.  For coloring accuracy, search birds here:  https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our  third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone".  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here in one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are beginning our study Eastern Europe this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents to "America" and US PresidentsFor assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/5/21
