For the Historical Dress-Up Day, students in 4th grade may dress as a historical figure from our history timeline: 1850-present. Check out your history book for ideas.

Math
Objectives:
1. Relate fraction of a whole to units in a bar-model diagram
2. Express a part as a fraction of a whole
3. Determine the whole from the value of a fractional part of the whole
4. Solve up to two-step word problems which involve fractions of a set

Spelling
Objective: Spell words with or in an unaccented syllable

Writing
Objectives:
1. Create a KWO from a source text using the story sequence chart
2. Write a 3-paragraph story including dress-ups, and new vocabulary

Grammar
Objectives:
1. Use irregular verbs correctly in various tense forms
2. Identify conjunctions and interjections in sentences
3. Name and give examples of each of the eight parts of speech: Noun, Verb, Pronoun, Adjective, Adverb, Preposition,Interjection, Conjunction

Latin

History
Objectives: 
1. Learn about creatures living in the Pantanal area of Brazil
2. Know that Alexander II and Alexander III were unpopular Russian Czars with unlimited power
3. Design a flag using colors and symbols that represent a free country

Science
Objectives:
1. Identify characteristics of mosquitoes, flies and true bugs
2. Review Classification Orders: Coleoptera, Diptera, and Hemiptera
3. Continue to collect, study, and identify Texas insects.

Continue to add to your insect collection. You will need to have 10 different insects, all labeled with the Order,
name of insect, date, and location.

Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
Poetry:  Our first quarter poem is "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening".  Additional copies .here.
Geography:  We will begin our study of Western Europe this week.
