On Wednesday, October 31st,  your student is allowed to dress in costume as a historical figure from our history time-period (Civil War to the Present). 

Discipleship:
Objective:  Experience the joy of the Lord which comes from spending time in His presence.  
Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading.  Our Character Virtue of the month is Attentiveness. 
Kids of Integrity has wonderful resources to aid you in developing this virtue in your child.

Math:
Continue doing a 5 min warm-up with the Math fact sheet of your choice.  
Work through Mental Math 14 this week.
Objectives:
1. Convert an improper fraction to a mixed number.
2. Convert a mixed number to an improper fraction.
3. Add and subtract fractions involving improper fractions.
4. Review previously learned skills, reteaching when necessary.

Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.

Spelling
Objectives:
1. Learn the phonogram "ough"
2. Learn how to spell common holidays and words with /uff/ spelled ough 

Composition
Objectives:
1.  Write a myth using your story sequence outline and composition checklist

Reading  
Objectives:
1. Spend 30-45 min of independent reading per day
2. Engage in meaningful discussion over assigned text

Grammar
Objectives:
1. Identify object pronouns.
2. Review previously learned material
3. Identify helping verbs
4. Know that "not" is always an adverb
5. Correctly use subject pronouns, object pronouns, and possessive pronouns in sentences.

Latin: 
Objectives:
1. Learn new 2nd Declension (masculine) nouns and how to recognize them.

History
Objectives:
1. Know that Russia's economic collapse led to the Bolshevik Revolution, which forced the Czar out of power.
2. Know that the Bolshevik leader, Vladimir Lenin, became a brutal dictator.
3. Lenin established the USSR and ruled over it until his death in 1924.

Science
Objectives:  
1.  Name and describe five simple machines: Levers, Wheels, Pulleys, Screws, and Gears.
2.  Build a simple machine.

Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
Poetry:  Our second quarter poem is "Stopping By a Woods on a Snowy Evening". Additional copies here.
