Discipleship:

Math:
Continue doing a 5 min warm-up with the assigned Math fact sheet and 5 min of Mental Math. Work through MM 7 & 8 this week.Objectives:
1. Subtract 1-place decimals.
2. Subtract 2-place decimals.
3. Use mental strategies involving adding and subtracting decimal numbers.
4. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of decimal numbers.
Work through Mental Math 7 & 8 this week.
Composition:
We're continuing Writing from Pictures this week, writing one paragraph per picture. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence describing the central fact of the picture with the rest of the paragraph filling in the who, when, where, what, why and how details, complete with required dress-ups. Reading:
Students should complete reading a classical book of choice. Pace yourself to finish the book this week.
After each chapter, students should orally narrate or retell the passage to parents. Grammar
Objectives: 1. Identify and classify mixed pattern sentences.
2. Correct double negatives in writing.
3. Review making contractions.
Spelling
Objectives: 1. Learn to spell words containing the sound of /oo/ pelled ui.
2. Learn to spell words with the same plural and singular form.
Latin:
Listen to Latin chants daily to aid in memorization.
History
Last week students watched Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech and discussed it.
In your journal, write about a dream you have for the future. It could be for your community, nation,
school, or for you personally. What would you like to see happen or change? What would make the
world a better place? Write a paragraph describing your "dream".
ScienceFun, Fab Balancing Lab--Scrounge around your home for odds an ends. Try balancing combinations
of whatever you have on your finger: cereal box cardboard, toilet paper tubes, corks, carrots, potatoes,
fruit, pennies, washers, paper clips, toothpicks, straws, plastic or metal forks, chopsticks, pencils.
Find it, then try it!
The Rules of Balance: Remember these tips as you create crazy balancing contraptions:
- An object balances when the support point is in line with the object's center of gravity.
- The support must be directly on, above, or below the center of gravity.
- The object is most stable when the center of gravity is down low.
Balancing point: point at which an object can be supported without falling over
