Discipleship
Start your home school day with prayer and Bible reading. Our Character Virtue of the month is obedience, this week specifically focusing on cooperativeness and attentiveness.
Math: The test on Wednesday will have problems very similar to Review 3 and Review B. We will attempt to work through all of Review 3 in class on Monday, reviewing and reteaching any concepts that need additional clarification. Review B is for further practice at home. Please use this to help your child review any concepts he/she is struggling to understand.
Math Facts: Start each day with a 5 min warm up using the Math Facts Practice sheets. This week we will work on division facts at school. Please continue doing facts practice sheets daily at home until all facts are completely mastered.
Mental Math: Continue your warm up with 5 minutes of Mental Math. This week work through MM 18 in the HIG appendix.
Workbook Exercises: Please check these daily and have students make corrections.
Math Buddies: We encourage you to regularly use this web site to help you better understand how to teach a lesson and to provide opportunities for your child to practice new skills or review previously learned concepts that they may need extra practice with.
Reading
Write and score a narration from this week's reading and return to school on Monday. Reading
Grammar
On Monday, please use Theseus and the Minotaur from IEW to highlight all capitalized words in the story. Then use your grammar book to identify and write above each capitalized letter the rule number that applies. On Wednesday, go through the same process, but for punctuation. This will be a good exercise in combining curriculum and making sense of how grammar applies everywhere!

Please continue to review phonograms at home as needed. Administer Assessment 2 of the Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker. Here are instructions for administering the assessment.
Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Parents, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app. Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.
Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.
Next week (11/3) we will begin reading about the Civil War. As a break from the weekly history narrations, I thought it would be fun to create lapbooks highlighting important events and people from this time. I'll be sending out more details later, but here are a couple links to some lapbook ideas. You child can use these, or create their own. Please don't be overwhelmed by the amount of information. You don't have to use all of the resources, just have your child pick the areas that interest them and use those to create their own memorable project. We'll start in class this week with information about the American Abolitionists, and they can add to it at home as we study the War Between the States.
