Math: Begin math with a 5-minute warm-up of the Math Facts Practice sheet your child is currently working on.
Objectives:
1. Find multiples of a one-digit number.
2. Find common multiples.
3. Find factors of whole numbers up to 100.
4. Identify prime and composite numbers.

Spelling:
Objective: Review and assess single letter phonograms.
Note: Please administer the Classical Phonics Assessment (in binder) this week and return to school the following Tuesday. You only need to do Assessment 1 (Single Letter Phonograms) at this point. Co-teachers, for the written portion, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app. Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed. For the oral portion, show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.

2. Write a rough draft of a fable using KWO and composition checklist.
3. Incorporate a who/which clause into composition.

1. Identify parts of speech and use them correctly.
2. Identify predicate words located in the complete subject.

Objectives:
1. Identify factors that led to the War Between the States (Civil War).
2. Identify key figures of the war.
3. Research a Civil War hero or famous person.
Note: Choose a person from the Civil War that you would like to learn more about. Read about their life and write a paragraph describing what that individual did during the Civil War that was notable or commendable. Some possible ideas include various political figures, generals, spies, abolitionists, etc. There are many more! Students will be sharing this information with classmates on Thursday of next week.
History: American Civil War for Kids (ducksters.com) has biographies of many people, including the following. Be sure to write your paragraph using your own words.

Science
Objectives:
1. Identify characteristics of Order Lepidoptera.
2. Know the four stages of complete metamorphosis.
Note: Your student should start pinning their insects sooner rather than later, so that the insect can “set its shape.” (Some of your specimens will need lots of pins to arrange their legs and body just right. After a few days to a week, most of the pins can be removed and the insect’s shape will be “set.”)

Memory Work: Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
Poetry: Our first quarter poem is "The Father's Vineyard." We will recite this poem for our school during morning Sanctuary on Thursday, October 2nd.
Geography: We will begin our study of Southern Europe this week. The song and map can be found on the main blog curricula/geography page here. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map.
Science: Classification of Life: Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. Body parts of an insect.
