2. Create a KWO from a series of three pictures
3. Create a central fact or topic sentence for each picture, stating what is happening in the picture

History 

Objectives: 

1. Know that world leaders met in Versailles and formed the League of Nations in an attempt to ensure peace after WW I 
2. Know that Mohandas Gandhi promoted nonviolent resistance to British rule in India
3. Know that under Joseph Stalin, Russia became the USSR and millions of Russians died. 

Questions:
1. What is a totalitarian state?
2. Under Stalin, what happened to the smaller countries around Russia?
3. What were collective farms? Give two reasons why didn't farmers like them.
4. What was the "Gulag Archipelago"? How many Russians were sent there?
5. Why did Solzhenitsyn write that revolution cannot solve a country's problems?

Science

1. Identify physical characteristics of birds

2. Learn ways to identify birds through field markings, behavior, habitat, and songs. 


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone".  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here is one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are beginning our study of Eastern Europe this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents to "America" and US PresidentsFor assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/5/21
