Begin math with a 5 minute warm-up of addition practice using Facts Practice A.  When your child can complete FP-A correctly in 5 min, move on to FP-B (subtraction).

Objectives:
1. Find multiples of a one-digit number
2. Find common multiples
3. Find factors of whole numbers up to 100
4. Identify prime and composite numbers
5. Find common factors

Spelling
Objective: Spell words ending in tion and alphabetize to the fourth letter

Reading  
Objectives:
1. Identify virtues in characters
2. Summarize a passage through oral narration
3. Interact with the text through discussion and activities
4. Increase vocabulary

Writing
Objectives: 1. Create a KWO from a source text. 2. Write a rough draft of a fable using KWO and composition checklist. 3. Incorporate new vocabulary and "ly" words into composition. 4. Create a title that repeats or reflects key words from the final sentence 5. Write a polished final draft of a fable

Grammar
Objectives: 
1.  Identify nouns as "common" or proper" and "singular" or "plural."
2.  Identify the simple subject and simple predicate of a sentence.

Latin
Objective: Learn Latin vocabulary, derivatives and prayers

History
Objectives:  
1. Identify factors that led to the War Between the States.
2. Identify key figures of the war.
3. Research a war hero.

Note: Choose a person from the Civil War that you would like to learn more about. Read about their life and write a paragraph in your journal describing what that individual did during the Civil War that was notable or commendable. Some possible ideas include various political figures, generals, spies, abolitionists, etc.  There are many moreStudents will be sharing this information with classmates on Wednesday of next week.

Poetry:  Our first quarter poem is "The Father's Vineyard".  Additional copies here.
Geography:  We will begin our study of Southern Europe this week. The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling continents and oceans on a map.
