Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading. 
Our Character Virtue of the month is Obedience. Kids of Integrity has Bible lessons, games, prayers, and activities geared to help develop this virtue in your child.

Math
Begin math with a 5 minute warm-up of addition practice using Facts Practice A.  When your child can complete FP-A correctly in 5 min, move on to FP-B (subtraction).

Objectives:
1. Round a 6-digit number to the nearest hundred-thousand, ten thousand, or thousand.
2. Use place value concepts in mental math computations.
3. Practice concepts learned
4. Assessment
5. Investigate addition and subtraction of 5-digit numbers.

Reading  
Objectives:
1. Identify virtues in characters
2. Summarize a passage through oral narration
3. Interact with the text through discussion and activities
4. Increase vocabulary

Grammar
Objectives: 
1. Identify nouns and action verbs in a sentence.
2. Know the 5 parts of a complete sentence: subject, verb, capital letter, end mark, makes sense
3. Know and identify the four kinds of sentences: declarative, imperative, interrogative, exclamatory
4. Know that adverbs modify a verb, adjective, or another adverb and answer How, When, or Where?

Latin
Objective: Learn Latin vocabulary, derivatives and prayers

History
Objectives:  
1. Know the measures Japan took to keep out Western Influence until Matthew Perry gained access.
2. Identify some differences between West and East during the 1850's.
3. Know that Florence Nightingale was a nurse during the Crimean War and introduced many new practices to the nursing field.

Science
Objectives:
1. Identify several benefits insects provide to our lives.
2. Identify the parts of an insect.


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
Poetry:  Our first quarter poem is "The Father's Vineyard". Additional copies here.
Geography:  We will continue to study the Continents & Oceans. The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling continents and oceans on a map.
Science: Classification of Life: Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species
