Math:  
Continue doing a 5 min warm-up with a Math fact sheet and 5 min of Mental Math.  
Begin working through MM1 this week.
Objectives:
1. Express a mixed number as a decimal.
2. Relate money in dollars and cents to decimals.
3. Express a 2-place decimal as a fraction in simplest form.
4. Compare and order numbers to 2 decimal places.
5. Add and subtract tenths and hundredths
Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as 
well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and
then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance 
Composition:This week we are starting Unit 5, which is writing from pictures. Here's a link to help you gain confidence moving forward as Andrew Pudewa explains the vital role Unit 5 plays in unlocking students' imagination and in developing their thinking skills.   
Objectives:  
1. Describe the sequence of events happening in a series of pictures.
2. Write a KWO telling the facts of what is happening.
3. Using your KWO, write a paragraph describing a picture 

Reading: We will continue reading The House of Sixty Fathers this week. Please bring your book to class each day.

Grammar

Objectives:

1. Identify antecedents and use correct pronoun agreement in sentences.

2. Review compound sentence punctuation.

Spelling

Objective: Learn how to make the plural form of words ending in f and fe.
History

Objectives:
1. Know that Mao Zedong brought communism to China in 1949.
2. Name at least five results of Mao’s regime in China.
Science

Vocabulary Definitions:
Reflection: the change in direction of a wave due to its bouncing off a boundary between one medium and another.
Refraction: the change in direction of a wave due to its moving into a medium in which its speed is different.
Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents.   There are several YouTube video songs.  

Here are two: US Presidents to "America"  US Presidents  For assessment, students will write or sing all the 
presidents' first and last names.  Due 2/20/18.     
Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone". Due 2/27.  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here in one. In Christ Alone Additional copies of the poem here.

Geography: We are continuing our study of Western Europe this week.  Additional maps found here.
