Start with 5 min of addition practice using Facts Practice-G or H (multiplication).

Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance.

Reading

1. Write a polished final draft of "The Mule" including -ly dress-up, who/which clause and vocab words.

3. Know that Latin nouns contain Number, Gender and Case.

Objectives: 

1. Know that the United States still faced multiple problems after the Civil War.

2. Know that the 13th Amendment made slavery illegal in every state in the Union.

3. Identify factors which led to the Dominion of Canada in 1876.

Science

Objectives:

1. Identify characteristics of Order Lepidoptera: scale wings, proboscis, forewings, hindwings
2. Know that some butterflies migrate long distances

3. Continue to collect, study, and identify Texas insects.

Continue to add to your insect collection. You will need to have 10 different insects, all labeled with the Order,
name of insect, date, and location.

1. Multiply tens, hundreds, and thousands with each other.

2. Multiply a 2-digit and 3-digit number by a 2-digit number.

3. Practice concepts involving multiplication and division

4. Review all previously learned skills, reteaching where necessary

Start with 5 min of addition practice using Facts Practice B (subtraction) or FP-G (multiplication).

Do 5 min of Mental Math using MM 7 in the HIG appendix.  Don't strive to finish all problems in this time. The goal is to be able to calculate answers mentally. 

Bar Modeling: Bar modeling is a key component of problem solving. We will now do a practice "Bar Model of the Day" each day at school along with our normal math facts and mental math warm-ups.  If you have not watched the bar model training videos on the blog under resources, they will be beneficial in assisting your student.
