Our Character virtue this month is Patience.
Math Please work through Mental Math 11 this week.
Objectives:
1. Multiply and divide length, weight, volume, and time in compound units.
2. Solve word problems involving compound units.
3. Identify figures with line symmetry.
4. Identify lines of symmetry in geometric shapes.

Spelling
Objective: Learn to spell more words containing the sound of /e/ spelled ea.
Grammar
Objectives:
1 Identify Similes and metaphors.
2. Assess correcting mixed tenses and forming contractions.
3. Know and correctly label the Five Parts of a Friendly Letter.
Composition
1. Create three KWO's containing interesting facts about a scientist
2. Write an introductory paragraph for a biography.
3. Write a RD from first KWO including a topic sentence, facts, clincher sentence and dress-ups..

Note: Students will be researching a scientist and writing a report over the next two weeks.
Week of 3/18: Students read a short biography book of a scientist such as Who Was Thomas Alva Edison? by Margaret Frith
Here are a few scientists from which to choose. There are many others.
· Isaac Newton—founded the laws of gravity and motion
· Thomas Edison—American inventor
· Albert Einstein—E=mc², plus many other theories
· Niels Bohr—applied quantum theory of physics to the structure of the atom
· William Gilbert—English physicist who founded the study of magnetism
· Lord Kelvin (William Thomson)—established the absolute temperature scale
Week of 3/25 Students complete reading, and begin answering the following questions on a questionnaire:
· Who was the scientist you read about?
· When and where were they born?
· What was their major scientific contribution?
· List the events that surrounded their discovery
· List some other interesting events in the scientist’s life.
Memory Work: Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
