Discipleship:
Objective: Experience the joy of the Lord which comes from spending time in His presence. Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading. Our Character Virtue of the month is Joy, this week focusing on Enthusiasm.
Math:
Continue doing a 5 min warm-up with the assigned Math fact sheet. If your child has mastered the current fact sheet, move on the next one. Do 5 min of Mental Math daily working through any of MM 1-18 this week.
Objectives:
1. Find one dimension of a rectangle when given its perimeter and the other dimension.
2. Find one dimension of a rectangle when given its area and the other dimension.
3. Find the perimeter of a figure made up of rectangles and/or squares.
4. Find the area of a figure make up of rectangles and/or squares.
5. Find the area of a path around a rectangle.
Please complete all the work assigned for home days, including workbook and practice exercises, as well as math facts practice. Please grade all work by first indicating which answers are incorrect and then giving your student an opportunity to correct his/her mistakes before offering assistance
Composition:
Objectives:
1. Take notes from facts.
2. Write a topic sentence.
3. Limit details by choosing only interesting facts.
4. Write a final clincher which repeats or reflects key words from the topic sentence.
Reading: We will complete our reading Number the Stars this week. Bring your book to class each day. Next week begin reading a classical book of choice.

Spelling
Objective: Know more ways to spell words with Silent E.
Step 13 spelling test was returned on Monday. Please have your student correctly rewrite any misspelled words five times and return it to school on Wed. Continue to review phonogram cards.
Latin:
Listen to Latin chants daily to aid in memorization.
History
Objectives:
1. Know that the United Nations was formed in 1945 as an international community with a mission to uphold peace.
2. Know that the Cold War was between superpowers USSR and the United States.
3. Identify ways the two countries were at odds with one another.
Memory Work: Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.
We are continuing our memorization of the US Presidents. For assessment, students will write all the presidents' first and last names. Due 2/21/18. If you'd like to make flashcards, here are some president picture memory cards.
